Phillip Zimmerman is the Animal Care Services Manager for the City of Sacramento Front Street Animal Shelter. Prior to joining the Front Street Animal Shelter in November of 2019, Phillip served as the Manager for the City of Stockton Animal Shelter for 5 years. Phillip has a combined 23 ½ years of municipal government service. Phillip spent his first 18 years working for the City of Stockton Police Department as a 9-1-1 Communications Dispatcher and Supervisor.
Phillip’s passion in animal welfare is reducing barriers. Phillip fervently believes that people are inherently good, and we need to trust our animal loving communities. Phillip supports reducing barriers to adoption, owner redemption, volunteerism including fostering animals, and vitally important for every community, is reducing barriers to affordable veterinary care for owned companion animals.
Phillip is passionate that no person should ever be denied the benefits of the human-animal bond because access to affordable veterinary care is not available.
Phillip holds a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University Stanislaus with concentrations in Communications, Sociology and Psychology. Phillip and his husband have two adult sons, one grandson, 4 dogs and 1 cat very old cat. In Phillip’s free time, he and his family enjoy “glamping” in their recreational vehicle.
