Disaster Preparedness Resources
Preparedness is Key!
Thanks to a generous grant from the Humane Society of the United States, CalAnimals has Ryan Soulsby as our Disaster Program Manager, ready to assist in disaster preparedness and response for animal services agencies throughout our state. Ryan also serves as our liaison with Cal OES, CDFA CARES, Cal CART, CVET, Cal Fire, and more as we work to improve resources and coordination to support the effective evacuation, care, and reunification of animals with their families during disasters.

The CalAnimals Emergency Management Committee worked collaboratively to create an Organizational Disaster Preparedness Checklist to serve as your guide to thoughtfully prepare for emergencies within your own community. First and foremost, this is the document we recommend reviewing to ensure that you have the organization, structure, and relationships in place to effectively lead when disasters strike.

Do you have your Mutual Aid Agreements and/or Memorandums of Understanding in place? Sample documents are available below.
